Job-seekers: Be precise in your communication

11/9/2017

Be precise in your communications.

Don't use "Retail Professional" as a headline on your LinkedIn profile - it doesn't indicate your job function, job level, or, really, anything of value.

Don't use "Manager" as a job title - are you a department manager, sales manager, operations manager, assistant store manager, store manager, district manager, etc?

Don't say you're looking for "a job with a great company that offers room for advancement" when the recruiter asks about your job target - are you looking for a store manager position, visual manager, district manager, regional manager, etc?

Don't say your store did "really well" when they ask about your success - how much did you increase sales? How much did you reduce shrink?

If you're specific, it shows that you're on top of your game.

Best of luck!
