5 sample email signatures for retail managers who are job searching

11/30/2015

If you're job searching, there's a very good chance you'll be communicating through email with recruiters, past colleagues, and others in your network. Using a professional email signature will benefit you in three ways:

  1. It will help you make the best possible first impression. Email signatures, if done right, can help give the impression that you're professional, organized, and assertive.
  2. It will quickly tell the reader who you are and what you have to offer, similar to a LinkedIn headline.
  3. It will provide the recipient with links to more information about you, such as social media profiles.

What you may want to include:

  1. Your name.
  2. A headline that summarizes who you are and what you have to offer.
  3. Your contact info - primarily your name and email address. (Some people question the need for the email address since the recipient will have access to it, but it makes it easier. Why make them find it?)
  4. Links to social media profiles or websites that you use for professional purposes.
  5. Perhaps a tagline that you regularly change to tell the recipient something unique about you.

What you don't want to include:

  1. Pictures or graphics of any kind - they don't display properly for everyone, so it's better to stick to text.
  2. Too much information - you don't want to overwhelm the person. It should be quick and easy to read.
